Cost depends on capacity, pipe run, floor height and system type (wall split vs ducted/VRF).
A typical quote covers site visit, mounting, refrigerant lines, drain, vacuum and commissioning. Chasing walls, extra meters and high-rise work are extras.
7–12 BTU wall splits with a short run are the most affordable. Ducted and column systems cost more due to ducts and balancing.
Cheap installs often fail later: bad drain slope, weak outdoor mounts, undercharge.
Floor height and façade access matter: lifting an outdoor unit to upper floors without a freight lift is usually quoted separately, as are long pipe runs and chasing walls for a clean finish.
Before you sign, confirm vacuum with gauges, nitrogen purge, drain routing, bracket hardware and commissioning with measured deltas — vague “from …” prices usually grow on site.
Ducted and light-commercial systems need ducts, grilles and balancing as their own line items.
Compare warranty and who services the system in peak heat, not only the install fee.
