Upgrading Legacy Ventilation on an Industrial Site

Where to start when “something blows but nobody knows what” — without shutting the plant for weeks.

Old plant ventilation usually fails gradually: weak airflow, noise, clogged filters, stuck dampers, layout no longer matching new lines. Start with an audit — measure flows and pressures, inspect ducts, check hoods against current heat and dust sources. Without that inventory you cannot tell full replacement from targeted upgrades.

Common upgrades: enlarge choked sections, swap worn fans for VFD-driven units, seal flange leaks, add filter banks or heat recovery where runtime justifies it. Replacing a rotten duct run often beats stacking another fan on a leaky system.

On live production, phasing matters: work in shutdown windows, temporary bypasses, prefabricated spools. Aurum Prodest builds ducts ahead in its own shop so site time is mostly assembly — less line downtime.

Modern controls save energy: CO₂/temperature speed control, night setback, motorized fire dampers, filter ΔP monitoring. Rebalance and document after upgrade — otherwise new kit behaves like the old loud system.
