Refrigerant Leak: Signs and What to Do

Weak cooling, icing and oily joints usually mean a leak.

If the fan runs but rooms stay warm, charge loss is a common cause — dangerous for compressors in Tashkent heat.

Watch for weak cooling with clean filters, iced lines, oil stains at flares, hissing joints and rising power bills.

Topping up without fixing the leak is temporary. Pressure-test with nitrogen, repair, vacuum, then weigh in refrigerant.

Avoid mystery “universal” blends that void brand warranties.

Do not confuse leaks with dirty filters — clean first, then check pressures.

Electronic sniffers, soap tests and nitrogen pressure tests are proper diagnostics.

After repair: vacuum and weigh-in charge with the correct refrigerant type recorded.

Repeat leaks at the same joint mean replace the part, not overtighten.
