Chiller–fan coil air conditioning

Chiller–fan coil air conditioning Chiller · 07

A chiller–fan coil system cools with water: one chiller on the roof or yard, fan coils in the rooms. Aurum Prodest designs the hydraulics, installs the pump set and commissions so distant coils are not warm in July.

A chiller without hydraulics is a noisy box. We size water flow, pipe losses, three-port valves and balancing. Tashkent condensers get outdoor-temperature margin. Glycol only if the circuit can freeze; extra glycol just hurts heat transfer.

About the service

A chiller without hydraulics is a noisy box. We size water flow, pipe losses, three-port valves and balancing. Tashkent condensers get outdoor-temperature margin. Glycol only if the circuit can freeze; extra glycol just hurts heat transfer.

Pump set: duty plus standby, strainer, expansion vessel, gauges you can read. Chiller pipework with flex connectors and compressor-change space. Fan coils are selected for office noise or ducted static.

Controls hold zone temperature without one-minute cycling. BMS is optional for malls and offices. AHU coils on the same chilled water when the design says so.

Pipes get slopes, vents, insulation against attic condensate. Ducts to ducted FCUs come from our shop. Commissioning: flush, fill, de-aerate, valve set, flow reports.

Service: pressures, condenser wash, oil and controls. 5-year workmanship; equipment per manufacturer if start-up rules were kept.

Brands

In industry, class equals downtime risk and ownership cost. Pros/cons by segment for plant, warehouse, or mall.

A brief comparison by class and use case — we match equipment to budget and site

Brand Class Pros Cons
Daikin Premium Range scale and large-plant experience High ownership cost at entry
Mitsubishi Electric Premium Reliability in continuous duty Expensive for non-critical zones
Trane Premium Industrial premium chillers/central plant Long leads and strict budgets
Carrier Mid-range Capacity + standards + workable quote Not always top for comfort noise
York Mid-range Typical industrial loads Less premium line flexibility
Climaveneta Mid-range Common CIS commercial pick Depends on local support
Systemair Mid-range Handy in an AHU package Not the #1 “heavy chiller” brand

FAQ

Why chiller–FCU instead of splits on a large building?

Fewer outdoor units, one plant, zone control. Hydraulics must be calculated, not guessed.

Chiller on a sandwich-roof hangar?

Only after load and frame check. Otherwise you punch the roof — not a brand issue.

Glycol in Tashkent?

Not always. Outdoor freeze risk — yes. A warm plant room often runs water with control protection.

Noisy FCUs in offices?

Not acceptable. We pick low-noise units and network static. The cheapest ducted unit is always audible in a meeting room.

How long does chiller–FCU take?

Weeks on a small office building to months on a mall. Chiller lead time and power are the usual gates.

Do you service other people’s chillers?

Yes, after survey. Not every circuit can be “just topped up” without a flush.
